Every year 5 million tonnes of packaging arises as waste from UK households of which over 2 million tonnes is still ending up in landfill.
Heron Foods as a responsible retailer recycles the majority of the transit packaging that our products are delivered in. Heron Foods would like to help our customers to recycle and reuse more of the packaging that our products are sold in. See below how we are handling the recycling of electrical items.
WEEE Battery & Electrical Recycling
As a responsible retailer, Heron Foods is supporting the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive introduced by the government.
What does this mean?
The aim is to reduce the amount of electrical waste that currently ends up in landfill and in turn help protect the environment from further damage.
What is Heron doing?
As a retailer we are responsible for increasing the amount of WEEE that recycled in the UK by assisting in the provision of dedicated WEEE collection facilities.
Through the distributor take back scheme, we now provide facilities in-store for customers to deposit electrical products for recycling.
Crossed – out wheelie bin symbol.
To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a cross – out wheelie bin symbol. Please don’t throw any electrical equipment in your bin.
