I began working at Heron Foods as a Warehouse Operative in 2002.

Back then we were shunting roll cages around by hand and picking orders for around 100 stores. It was hard work but I enjoyed it. So much has changed for me since then and for the company, now we use electric barrows or LLOPS to move stock.

I’ve been promoted four times – first to Team Leader, and then Supervisor, then to Operations Manager and now I’m the Warehouse Development Manager. Meanwhile Heron has moved to a new National Distribution Centre and grown to 250 plus stores.

I’ve had to work hard to progress my career but the great thing is that the opportunities were there for me to aim for.

I’m proud to say I work at Heron - it’s a great success story and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.
