Dozens of customers welcomed our new store to its home in Bayview Shopping Centre on Thursday, August 22.
During opening celebrations, we gave away goodie bags to its first 100 customers and handed out a number of vouchers.
More than 18 jobs have been created by the move into the former Home Bargains unit, which relocated in June.
A free-to-use cash machine has also be installed in the new supermarket.
Store manager Keith Tempest, who has worked for Heron Foods for three years, said:
I’d personally like to thank colleagues for their preparation work and the residents who have already shown support.
I think the store will give the area a huge boost.
Registered charity, CAIS, who help people having problems with addictions and mental health, lent their support to open the store and were given £250 as a thank you from Heron Foods for welcoming the store to the community.
